VW Electric Concept Vehicle Models, Specs and Release Dates
Today electric cars are becoming more and more popular—they don’t produce emissions, allow drivers to skip the gas station fill-up and sport a unique and slick design. Volkswagen has made a commitment to build one million electric vehicles per year by 2025, and to do so, they introduced a lineup of I.D. concept cars which will start their release in late 2020. The I.D. concept car family includes the ID., I.D. Crozz, I.D. Buzz, I.D. Space Vizzion and I.D. Vizzion. Learn more about the models and specs in this exciting lineup below!
All I.D. cars use a Modular Electric Drive Matrix and their batteries can be charged to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a 150kW DC fast charger. The I.D. lineup also features automated driving and excellent mileage per charge. There’s a lot to be excited about with this all-electric lineup, so let’s dig in!
The I.D. Crozz is a zero-emission SUV that is similar in size to the VW Tiguan. The I.D. Crozz has plenty of storage space and has enough room to hold a bicycle crosswise. It produces 302-horsepower with an AWD layout and has a 311-mile driving range on the New European Drive Cycle. The top speed on the I.D. Crozz is 112 MPG and 80 percent of the battery can be recharged in 30 minutes with a 150kW DC fast charger. The I.D. Crozz expected to hit dealerships in 2020.

The ID. concept car was initially introduced in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. This compact SUV is expected to receive 370 miles per charge and a full-auto drive mode. When the automatized drive feature is enacted, there is an option for the steering wheel to retract. The ID. is expected to enter production in 2020.
The I.D. Buzz is modeled after the iconic VW Bus from the 1950s and 1960s but hosts much more updated technology and a slick new design. For starters, the I.D. Buzz is fully electric and has 369 hp, while the 1950s VW Bus had 30 hp. Like the I.D. Crozz, the Buzz provides around 300 miles of range per charge. The interior of the Buzz is customizable, with three rows of seating that are on tracks and allow multiple configurations. The VW I.D. Buzz will start production in 2022.
The I.D. Vizzion is a concept vehicle that is designed without a steering wheel, which makes it the first fully autonomous from VW. The I.D. Vizzion is said to be controlled by hand motions and voice controls. Like other I.D. vehicles, the Vizzion is expected to receive around 300 miles per charge and produce 302 hp. The doors on the I.D. Vizzion open from the middle of the vehicle rather than the back of each door. The I.D. Vizzion is expected to hit the market by 2022.
I.D. Space Vizzion
The I.D. Space Vizzion is a long and luxuriously styled all-electric car that is designed to maximize aerodynamic abilities. The I.D. Space Vizzion has a 15.6-inch touchscreen display and has 20.7 cubic feet of storage and has two electric skateboards stored under the cargo department. The I.D. Space Vizzion produces 335 hp and can go from zero to 60 in five seconds with a 300-mile range per charge. The I.D. Space Vizzion should reach dealerships in 2022.
