Volkswagen has been building cars for over eighty years now. Even from those early days, before people got as concerned about safety, the German automaker still engineered safe vehicles. Now, many decades later, it is clear to see how much Volkswagen has invested in vehicle safety. The 2020 Volkswagen Passat is a great example of how safe a car can be with advances in modern technology. Read on to learn what makes the Passat a fantastic example of automotive safety.

What Makes the 2020 Volkswagen Passat a Safe Car?

The Volkswagen Passat is built for safety from the inside out. The bones of the car have built-in front and rear crumple zones that absorb as much energy as possible during a collision, keeping as much of that energy away from the occupants as possible.

When a collision does occur, the Passat has an Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) that automatically does things to help the driver and passengers get to safety. First, the ICRS deploys airbags, then it turns off the fuel pump and unlocks the doors. It will even automatically activate hazard lights to let others know what happened.

Does the 2020 Volkswagen Passat Have Safe Brakes?

The brake system works in tandem with the ICRS to activate the brakes after a collision so the vehicle resists getting pushed or rolling out into more traffic. The vehicle comes standard with an anti-lock brake system on all four brakes. The front disc brakes are ventilated for better heat distribution as well.

The 2020 Volkswagen Passat has the following driver-assist features:
