Every Halloween, McMinnville’s Third Street businesses close for the night to make way for an exciting event full of hayrides, competitions, bowling, pumpkin carving contests, photo booths, seasonal food and drinks, and more! One of the major draws is the “Scarecrows on a Lamp Post” competition. Participants create and install scarecrows on to downtown lamp posts, and the public votes for their favorites. First, second and third place winners receive prizes. Third Street businesses also host a trick-or-treating event from 4 PM to 6 PM.

History-Themed Halloween 2018 Events in McMinnville, OR

A cartoon image of a witch flying over a graveyardThe Yamhill County Historical Society is hosting a Night At The Museum event on Saturday, October 27 from 5-8 PM at Yamhill Valley Heritage Center. Entry cost is $5 per car. The event features Halloween-themed games, trick-or-treating and “haunted” museum exhibits. Children must be accompanied by an adult for entry.

The historical society is also hosting a Halloween and History event on October 20th and October 31st. This event runs from 6-9 PM at the Miller Museum and includes guided tours of the museum and a 3D virtual reality show and trick-or-treating. Entry is free, but donations are welcome. Like the other event, children must be accompanied by an adult.
